Dubno
Rivne OblastHome to the famous Dubno Castle, the self proclaimed seventh wonder of Ukraine.
Dubno is a small city located in Rivne Oblast in Western Ukraine dating back to the 1100’s. It’s just off the M6 motorway to Lviv so an ideal stop for an hour or two.. The highlight of the city is the famous Castle which is well worth a visit.
Founded originally in 1492 by Prince Konstantin Ostrogski, the castle overlooks the 155km long Ikva river. Within the complex you’ll find plenty of photo opportunities within the castle itself, an exhibition on torture instruments and a palace containing several rooms of history of the area and Ukraine. There is also a small cafe and 3d cinema. There’s plenty of hidden underground labyrinths of passages to explore too which will keep the children entertained.
Entrance to the castle including all exhibitions is only 65 UAH for adults and less for children and concessions. Guided tours are available.
As soon as you enter Antique House, it looks like a museum with tables set like an extravagant banquet and you wonder whether it’s an actual restaurant or all just for show.
As we entered they switched on the lights, put on some nice music and presented us with some heavy looking menus surprisingly in both English and Ukrainian. There’s a variety of dishes including salads, soups, meat dishes and deserts.
Located next to the entrance of Dubno Castle, you can also stay the night in their hotel in the same building.
